BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Pinson man murdered Thursday morning while trying to repossess a Cadillac was very reliable, according to his manager.
Jason McLendon was shot in the back of the head around 2:00 a.m. at 2017 19th Court North.
His manager told NBC13HD McLendon had worked for Ascension Recovery for about seven months, was a good employee and always followed the rules .
Birmingham homicide detectives said McLendon had arrived at the north Birmingham apartments to repossess a Cadillac sedan.
The claimed the car's owner confronted McLendon and the owner's brother came out with a rifle.
According to police, as McLendon and his partner started to drive away, the owner's brother fired one shot, striking McLendon in the back of the head.
The gunman later surrendered to police and told them he did not intend to shoot McLendon, only to warn him.
The suspect is expected to be officially charged this afternoon.
