A Virginia first-grader is recovering after a wild ride to school.
Police in Northumberland County say the 6-year-old boy decided to drive himself to school Monday morning after missing the bus.
He tooks his mother's keys and car without telling anyone, and almost made it to school before crashing into a utility pole.
The boy's mother, Deana Jacqulyn Waltman was at home sleeping at the time and is being charged with child neglect.
The boy wasn't seriously hurt and is now with a foster family.
