ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala-- Gambling opponents are gearing up for a battle in Saint Clair County.
Monday night about 250 people attended a meeting near Moody for people opposed to gambling.
Two St. Clair County towns have made moves to allow electronic bingo parlors to open.
Leaders say they need the tax revenue.
But opponents claim gambling is just a 'quick fix'.
“When you begin to break the math down, the economics of what looks good on the surface is really empty on the inside and we will pay more than we'll ever gain,” Pastor James Sampley of Argo First Baptist Church said.
A court hearing challenging electronic bingo in Saint Clair County is scheduled for Friday.
