BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge has set a Feb. 26 sentencing hearing for former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford.
Langford faces what amounts to a life sentence after being convicted on 60 felony counts in a bribery scheme. He was automatically removed from office with the guilty verdicts.
U.S. District Judge Scott Coogler issued an order Thursday saying Langford will be sentenced in Tuscaloosa, where a jury took less than two hours to convict him in a bribery scheme dating to his tenure as president of the Jefferson County Commission.
Langford says he's innocent and is appealing. He remains free on bond.
