BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Birmingham police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Attorney's Office announced the arrest of a Birmingham man they claim is one of the top 10 cocaine dealers in northern Alabama.
Late Tuesday a federal grand jury returned a two count indictment against Milton Kennard Whitlow charging him with cocaine distribution and gun possession.
Whitlow was arrested at his 2016 28th Street home in Ensley while drinking his morning coffee during a November 9, 2009 raid.
Investigators found 35 kilograms in a safe in his basement and a variety of weapons all over the house.
Those weapons included 5 pistols, 3 rifles and a shotgun.
Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor Matthew Germanowski estimated the cocaine was worth at least $3.5 million and it was headed for Birmingham streets.
Germanowski claimed that Whitlow was a major cocaine dealer in Alabama, even ranking him in the top 10 in the northern section of the state.
