BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A University of Alabama at Birmingham student will face criminal charges after the car he was driving hit a building on the sprawling campus.
Police said it happened just after 4 p.m. Monday.
UAB Police said 27-year-old Luther D. Shell drove his vehicle into the Commons on the Green dining hall.
Shell escaped injury, but he was charged with two felonies - reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
The building had more than $2,500 in damages.
UAB officials said Shell was placed on interim suspension pending the outcome of a conduct review.
No motive was given.
