The City of Pelham has a new budget.
Mayor Bobby Hayes tells NBC13HD News the City Council passed the 2008-2009 budget Thursday morning, September 25, 2008.
Mayor Hayes says the budget is about the same as last year, with a slight increase.
The new budget allows for a 4% pay raise for Pelham city employees, effective October 1, 2008.
Mayor Hayes says the pay raise will help employees offset higher insurance costs.
Projected city revenues for the new fiscal year are $38,784,160, an increase of about $162,000 from last year.
The new budget also allows the city to hire one new firefighter and one new police officer.
