Alabama Sailor Among Victims of Pakistan Hotel Bombing

»  Comments | Post a Comment

An Alabama sailor is one of 53 people killed in Saturday's truck bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Pakistan.

Petty Officer Matthew O'Bryant, a 22-year-old native of Theodore, was deployed overseas less than two months ago. His parents, Tommy and Barbara o'Bryant of Theodore, confirm Tuesday they had been informed of his death.

O'Bryant, who had attended the Art Institute of Atlanta and lived in Duluth, Ga., was assigned to the Navy Information Operations Command in Fort Meade, Md.

Navy spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Doug Gabos said he didn't know if O'Bryant was staying in the hotel in Islamabad that was bombed Saturday, but he said he died as a result of the truck bombing.

O'Bryant is survived by his wife, Bridgett, who has been living in Buckatana, Miss., with her parents since his deployment.
