Taxpayers Speak Out On Corporate Bailouts

»  Comments | Post a Comment

BIRMINGHAM, Ala--Taxpayers are definitely concerned but not panicking. NBC crews talked to a lot people today, working professionals, students and even business owners. Across the board many are upset about the government bailouts. It cost every American about $278.60 to bail out AIG, while experts believe the bailouts stabilize the economy, taxpayers we talked to aren't convinced it's money well spent.

"If I am going to pay more taxes I would pay it for better schools or helping disadvantaged children," said Titus Battle.
The resentment of corporate bailouts directly affects what many people spend and save.
"I am really concerned. I have cut back on groceries and different things like going shopping and haircuts. I don't do that nearly as often now,"said Kathy Beachler.

Experts advise pulling money out of banks and 401k's isn't wise. Most people we talked to are not panicking and following that advise, but many are worried. That worry means being less aggressive with stocks and investments and more people are now concerned about day to day living.
