Video Update: Hoover 9-11 Service

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Hundreds of miles from the cites of death and destruction, here in Hoover, a service to reflect, remember, resolve to never forget...

This Patriot Day Remembrance ceremony honored Hoover city employees who've served our country in the war on terror and all those service people who are still doing the same overseas.

"This day is very important," said US Army Major Evalena Lewis. "This day will never go away, this day will always rage in our hearts."

"It just represents the spirit of the country," said Hoover parent Angela George.

"This day means to me as getting up every day paves a way for me for my family to look back to realize what our soldiers are doing for our nation," Lewis said.

Not just the soldiers but those brave firefighters, police and EMS, who fought to save so many seven years ago.

George said, "It makes me feel pride, for all the people who didn't think of themselves who ran into save the people in those buildings."

Generations of folks honoring those who died - and passing on to younger generations why this day is so important.

That event was held at Hoover fire station number 2 on Patton Chapel Road.
