Around 2 pm a vehicle pulled up to the Sheriff's Office Center Point Substation and the victim, Willie Beaver told Deputies that he had been shot by his step-father, Herman Glanton.
Beaver had a single gunshot wound in the right buttock area. Centerpoint Fire responded and treated Beaver. Beaver was then transported to UAB Hospital by ambulance. Deputies went to the scene of the shooting at Livingston Oaks Apts and secured it, while Detectives went to UAB Hospital to interview Beaver.
At this time the supsect, Glanton, called the S/O and advised that he was coming to the Centerpoint Substation to turn himself in and he was not armed. Glanton arrived at the
Centerpoint Substation with the victims mother. He was detained and interviewed by Detectives. The suspect and victims mother have been living together for a year prior to this incident.
It is unknown what led to the confrontation. After questioning Glanton was arrested and charged with Assault 1st degree and held on $10,000 bond. Beaver was in good condition with a non life threatening wound.
