Langford sets bar high for Birmingham Food Drive

»  Comments | Post a Comment

BIRMINGHAM, Ala-- Mayor Larry Langford told city leaders today he hopes a food drive planned next week will net 50 tons of food for local charity groups. The event will take dried food items at Birmingham's Boutwell Auditorium, November 5 through 7.

Local church groups will be asked to help collect donations from the public at the 3 day event. The food items will likely be distributed among local religious charities which run food banks.

Langford says the 50 ton food goal could help local charity pantries stay full through the holiday season.
