BIRMINGHAM: What's next for Century Plaza Mall? A senior center, if Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford's idea comes to fruition.
Mayor Langford pitched his idea today to the City Council. He wants the city and Jefferson County to purchase the mall, and turn it into a senior citizens center. The mayor says the city & county could use federal money designated for senior services to help buy the property.
The City Council asked the mayor to study the idea, and return with more information.
