Two people are dead after a late-night fire in Tuscaloosa County.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out around 11:00 Thursday night at a home on Poole Road near Duncanville, about eight miles south of Tuscaloosa. Fire departments from Duncanville and Tuscaloosa responded to the fire, but were not able to save the home.

A neighbor tells NBC13 that a relative of the homeowner attempted to enter the home to rescue the people inside, but was unsuccessful.
Several family members live in homes on the street.

Captin Loyd Baker of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit says fire crews discovered the bodies of the two victims inside the home.

The coroner has not released the names of the victims, but they are believed to be the residents of the home, an 83-year-old man and his 25-year-old grandson. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.
