ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. --- Family members have identified the victims found in a submerged car Wednesday as two Ashville women missing since Sunday.

Ferlando Whisenant and Natasha Phillips grew up together.

In fact, Saturday they went out on the town to celebrate Phillips' 21st birthday.

They were last seen leaving the Tantra club at five points south early Sunday morning.

Then this afternoon, Ashville's police chief stopped buy to tell both families they believed they had found the missing women's car.

A deputy spotted the white Buick Regal submerged next to I-59 after noticing damaged guardrails lining the interstate.

After investigators pulled the car out of the water, authorities confirmed Whisenant and Phillips' bodies were inside.

The crash happened only six miles from the street where the two women grew up together.
