MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- A suspended Clarke County judge is arrested on charges of possessing as many as 30 guns in violation of a restraining order.
Circuit Judge Stuart DuBose faces a hearing Friday in U.S. District Court in Mobile following his arrest Thursday. Prosecutors say they will seek a permanent order of detention based on their concern about his mental stability.
Defense attorney Richard Shields criticized the decision to charge DuBose the week he returned home from a 30-day stay at a substance abuse treatment center.
DuBose also faces trial next month before the Alabama Court of the Judiciary on ethics charges.
