OAK GROVE, Ala.—Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fatal accident at an Oak Grove coal mine.
It happened around one-thirty Thursday afternoon at the Cleveland-Cliffs mine in Oak Grove.
In a news release, the company said a miner was killed during “movement of underground mining equipment.”
The mine went under a mandatory 24-hour shutdown after the accident.
Cleveland-Cliffs, the United Mine Workers of America, and the Mine Safety and Health Administration are collaborating on the investigation.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
