Investigators Make Arrest in Fatal Arson Case

A man faces several charges, after being arrested in an arson, which resulted in the death of a woman.
According to a news release from the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, John Wallace Hartline, 61, is accused in an arson on Red Hill Church Road this past Sunday.
An investigation concluded that Hartline and his sister, Lenetta Mae Hartline, went to the residence on Red Hill Church Road, doused it with gasoline, and set the house on fire.
The house was owned by the Hartline’s, but rented to someone else.
The Hartline’s were severely injured in the fire.
Lenetta Hartline was transported to UAB Hospital, where she died Tuesday morning.
John Hartline has been charged with Arson 2nd degree, Burglary 3rd degree, Theft of Property 2nd degree, and Theft of Property 3rd degree.
