Rainbow City School Creates Mural In Memory Of Slain Student

»  Comments | Post a Comment

In Rainbow City, students, faculty and staff of John Jones Elementary are remembering one of their own.

The school put up a 15’ by 9’ oil mural in memory of 5-year-old Geontae Glass. The little boy died in December 2006.  His body was found in the trunk of a car near Mountainboro.

His mother and her boyfriend have been charged with capital murder and are still awaiting trial.  The school said Geontae loved to sing, fish, and play ball, all images displayed in the mural.

"He meant a lot to us and we want to keep his memory alive," John Jones Principal Margaret McCool said.

The mural took about five weeks to complete.
