MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama Statehouse in Montgomery is without power.
A spokesman for the Alabama House of Representatives, Clay Redden, said the power went out about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Redden said Alabama Power reported a squirrel got in a transformer. Power is supposed to be restored about noon.
The Statehouse is using emergency lights and employees are answering the phones, but computers there are out of commission.
The power outage could be worse. On Monday, the Statehouse was packed with people for the final day of the Legislature's 2008 session. But it is much quieter with the lawmakers back at home.
