Alabama Police Kick off Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign

»  Comments | Post a Comment

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Police officers across the country are going to be paying closer attention to make sure motorists are wearing their seat belts.

Their message to motorists is buckle up or pay up as officers kick off the "Click It or Ticket" campaign today.

The goal of click it or ticket is to increase seat belt usage.

More officers and troopers will be on the roads looking out for drivers and passengers who aren't buckled up.

Authorities say 58 million Americans are still driving or riding unbuckled and that costs around $18 billion a year in medical, insurance, and overhead costs.

The campaign runs through June 1.
