Spotting And Stopping Gang Violence

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Birmingham homeowners and police pulled together to stop gang violence in the Magic City through an educational forum.

The event was hosted by Weed and Seed and the police department. The goal was to explain why gang's exist and how to identify them.

Chief A.C. Roper, members of the FBI task force and music artists came together to give residents tools to spot and then stop gang violence.

The organizers showed and explained more than a dozen graffiti signs and identified popular local gangs like the Central Park Boys, the Bloods and Crips.

They also showed pictures and gave examples of noticeable clothing that gang members wear to identify themselves.

The forum comes after police found gang graffiti spray painted in various areas around the city.

If you would like more information on how to decipher gang signs or what to do if you spot them call Birmingham Weed and Seed at 205-502-4701.
