-Ruben Studdard will be at Woodlawn High School today at 11:00. He is in town filming a documentary and will be stopping by Woodlawn to talk to music students.
-Governor Bob Riley will be holding a news conference in Birmingham today at 2:30 p.m. to discuss a compromise tax relief proposal that cuts the state sales tax on food while preserving the federal income tax deduction for over 98 percent of taxpayers. The Governor's compromise plan also raises the income tax filing threshold so Alabama families get an income tax cut; makes health care more affordable by offering tax deductions to small business owners and their employees; and lets the people vote on changing the law so property appraisals are done every four years rather than every year.
-The Hoover Board of Education meets tonight at 5:30 p.m.
