A school goes into lockdown, after a robbery at a nearby bank.
It happened about 10:00am today in the Center Point area of Jefferson County.
According to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, a man armed with a handgun robbed a customer outside a Regions Bank on Center Point Road.
The customer was on the way to make a deposit.
The suspect took off in a gold-colored car driven by a second suspect.
The car was seen heading in the direction of Erwin High School, and that school was locked down, while a search was underway for the suspects.
The school is now back to normal, but the suspects have not been found.
