The Day Ahead- Tuesday, May 13, 2008:
-LIVESTRONG Day is a one-day initiative to raise awareness about cancer in terms of prevention, screening and improved understanding for those who are newly diagnosed or cancer survivors. Members of the Alabama chapter of the Lance Armstrong Foundation will staff a table at The Kirklin Clinic at UAB to answer questions, pass out yellow arm bands and play a video 'loop' on the foundation project. A representative from UAB's Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on hand as well. It will take place at The Kirklin Clinic, 2000 6th Ave. South, 2nd floor lobby, outside the patient resource library from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
-The Birmingham City Council meets today at 9:30 a.m.
-The Jefferson County Commission meets today at 10 a.m.
-There will be an education rally today at 2:30 p.m. in Linn Park (20th St and Park Place). It is called the 911 Emergency Education Rally. The purpose is to bring HELP, and they are asking every parent, child, and concerned citizen to join us in Linn Park. The 911 Emergency Education Rally will serve as a platform not only for the churches in Birmingham but for everyone to show their support for the children, school system, and the board of education.
