Severe storms, possibly producing tornadoes, hail, heavy rain and straight line winds are headed for the northern half of Alabama as of this posting. NBC 13 HD meteorologists expect the storms to sweep across about half of the state late tonight and through the early hours of Sunday morning.
The storm system headed for Alabama produced tornadoes that slammed towns in Missouri and Oklahoma earlier today killing at least ten persons in those two states. Emergency officials in Picher, Oklahoma say there is tremendous damage to a twenty-block area of the town, where at least six were killed.
