The National Weather Service in Huntsville says a tornado caused the damage near Smith Lake and County Road 222 Thursday night.
The Smith Lake Marina and Resort reported damage to a boat house and restroom building.
A dozen nearby homes suffered varying degrees of damage from blowing debris and fallen trees.
Linda Boyd was one resident whose vacation home was destroyed when a fallen tree crashed through her roof.
Despite the damage no storm related injures were reported in Cullman County.
