BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- A former HealthSouth chief financial officer has been sentenced to a year's probation for illegally making a series of cash deposits.
Malcolm "Tadd" McVay received the probation term Tuesday for making the deposits totaling more than $180,000. He also agreed to forfeit $150,000.
McVay told U.S. District Judge U.W. Clemon in December that he did not know the series of deposits of his own money was a crime.
The former banker made the deposits between August and October 2006. Some were made minutes apart and were just below the $10,000 threshold at which banks must file currency transaction reports.
McVay pleaded guilty in 2003 and received probation in the HealthSouth accounting fraud case.
