Fayette Police Investigate Shooting

FAYETTE, Ala. -- The Fayette Police Dept. is investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon. 


Fayette Police Chief Sam Black said police received a call at about 3 p.m. on a man shot on Ninth Street Northeast.


Upon arrival, police found a man who was suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name was not released, pending notification of family members.


Police are continuing the search for the shooter described as a black male wearing a black t-shirt and shorts.


The Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the Winfield Police Department, the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office, the 24th Judicial Task Force and the Fayette County District Attorney's Office are assisting the Fayette Police Department in the search.


Anyone with information regarding the shooter's identity or whereabouts is asked to call the Fayette Police Department at 205-932-5312.
