ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (AP) -- Police in Robertsdale say former NFL football star and Crimson Tide broadcaster Kenny Stabler was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the Foley native was pulled over for a traffic violation on Alabama 59 and charged with DUI.
Stabler, according to authorities, was taken into custody early Sunday at about 1 a.m.
Robertsdale assistant police chief Brian Middleton said Stabler posted $1,000 bond and was released from jail.
Stabler has two previous DUI charges, stemming from arrests in 2001 and 1995.
Mal Moore, Director of Athletics at the University of Alabama, issued the following statement today:
“Kenny has always been supportive of Alabama athletics, and it’s in times like these that his friends need to be supportive of him. It’s my understanding that this situation is in its early stages and a lot of the information is still being gathered. With that in mind, I think it would be disrespectful and irresponsible to comment any further.”
