BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Amanda Tapley of Birmingham was crowned Miss Alabama Saturday night.
The 20-year-old won the swimsuit competition and the talent competition with her piano performance.
She is Miss Samford University, where the competition was held. She was crowned by outgoing Miss Alabama Jamie Langley.
First runner-up was Miss Point Mallard, Katie Boyd. Second runner-up was Miss Covered Bridge, Colene Burns of Hayden. Miss Painted Rock, Shellie Street of Mobile, was third runner-up, while Miss Hoover, Jessica Headley, was fourth runner-up.
Tapley is working on a music degree and hopes to become a pediatric oncologist.
