Birmingham Police Involved Taser Death

»  Comments | Post a Comment

BIRMINGHAM, Ala--Birmingham police are investigating a taser death. Chief AC Roper said officers were fighting for their lives when they used the taser. 43-year old Willie Maye died at Cooper Green Hospital after being tased Friday morning. Police said it happened after Maye resisted arrest. Maye was stopped at a road block in Pratt City but police said he drove off from the check point. Roper said while his heart goes out to the Maye family, he stands behind the two officers involved in this incident. Roper said the cops were involved in a vicious fight for their own lives. The unnamed officers are on paid leave and may get counseling; meanwhile the coroner is investigating if the taser caused Maye’s death.
