Video: Blue Star Mother's: one woman's fight to bring the organization to Alabama

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Sylacauga woman is trying to do something that's never been done before. Patricia Sellers wants to start an Alabama chapter of Blue Star Mother's. The organization was established during World War Two for women with children in the military. The mothers support and encourage each other during what can be a difficult time. Sellers, who has a son serving in Iraq, said she wants women to know, "that they don't have to be alone that there are other mothers who will be there for them and guide them and pray with them." Sellers has already gotten the necessary paper work needed to start a local charter. What she needs now are members. The first Blue Star Mother's informational meeting will be held August 14, 2008 at Lloyd's Restaurant on Highway 280 in Birmingham. If you are interested in joining the Alabama chapter of Blue Star Mother's go to the following websites: momma4marine@mysylacauga.com or bluestarmothers.org.
