Retired Tuskegee Teacher Death now a Murder Investigation

»  Comments | Post a Comment

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (AP) - Tuskegee Police initially thought a
retired school teacher was killed when a fire swept through her
home over the weekend. Now authorities are treating the case as a
homicide.
Tuskegee Police Chief Lester Patrick said 79-year-old Mary
Hagins was found dead early Saturday morning. He said Macon County
Coroner Hal Bentley ruled the victim died from blunt force trauma
to the head.
Bentley said it appeared the fire was deliberately set to hide
the homicide.
There have been no arrests.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the state Fire Marshal's
Office have joined the investigation.
