Mike Looney, Butler County’s Superintendent of Schools will stay in Butler County. That’s according to an internal email. Looney had been offered the job in June of Deputy Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum in the Jefferson County School System. He would have replaced Dr. Jerry Mitchell who retired after 38 years of service in the Jefferson County School System. No word on if someone else has been offered the job or if the job search will have to begin all over again.

Jefferson County Board of Education has called a special board meeting for Tuesday, July 14, 2008. It will be held at 10am, just before the regular committee meetings at the Board’s offices in Homewood.
