With millions of Americans celebrating July 4th this weekend, there are a few safety tips you should keep in mind:

Grilling:

- Never use a grill indoors.

- Move the grill at least 10 feet away from your house or any building.

For more tips, go to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

Fireworks:

- Never try to re-light a "dud" firework. You should wait 20 minutes and then soak it in bucket full of water.

- Always have water handy.

- Alcohol and fireworks don't mix. Make sure you have a "designated shooter" for your fireworks celebration.

For more fireworks safety tips, visit the National Council on Fireworks Safety website.

Everyone at NBC13 HD hopes you and your family have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
