Hikers Safe After Being Lost Overnight In Bankead National Forest

Two adults and three children who got lost hiking in the Bankhead National Forest are safe at home.

Two adults and three children who got lost hiking in the Bankhead National Forest are safe at home.

The five hikers, all from Decatur, were found Wednesday morning after losing their way Tuesday. A relative reported them missing when they didn't return home as scheduled. Derrick Randolph, 38, along with Caroline England and the three children were reportedly tired and thirsty but not injured when they were found.

A search party from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department begain looking for the hikers Wednesday morning. It took rescuers about an hour and a half to find the group.
