Trussville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Freeman is one of the “Top four Finalists for National Superintendent of the Year.”
Dr. Freeman is the first and only candidate from Alabama to make it to this level.
State Superintendent Dr. Joe Morton said, “Suzanne Freeman is an exceptional leader and educator. She is student and teacher centered while realizing how the changing focus of student learning requires more attention to technology, subject matter rigor, and relevance to job futures. It is no surprise she is one of four finalists and it will be no surprise when she is named the national winner.”
The other three finalists are: Dr. Eugene White, Superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, Indiana; Mr. Stuart Silberman, Superintendent of Fayette County Schools, Kentucky; and Dr. Beverly L. Hall, Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools, Georgia.
On January 12th and 13th in Washington D.C., all finalists will participate in interviews by a Blue Ribbon selection panel.
Finalists will be honored on stage at the AASA National Conference on Education in San Francisco where the National Superintendent of the Year will be announced.
Dr. Freeman has been Trussville City Schools’ Superintendent since its inception in 2004.
