The U.S. government gave Mexican officials $197 million last week to help the country fight violent drug cartels.

Officials say Birmingham is a huge destination and distribution center for Mexican-born drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine.

Central Alabama roads are being used for the movement of drugs, weapons, cash and even human trafficking.
