People have been hashing out Tommy Tuberville's resignation on radio and in sports bars since the news broke.

One fan said, "Tuberville ends his career 85-40 on the Plains. Ten years of success. Obviously not good enough this year."

But should it be? Many fans say Tommy Tuberville's overall performance outshines this season's 5-7 record.

"I was very disappointed. He's done Auburn a good job- best winning percentage in the conference for the past five years," 35:17 You don't fire somebody after one bad year,"

The rumors have been swirling for weeks - but the conformed news is still catching people by surprise.

"Watching the whole thing go down was just shocking honestly. I thought Auburn would at least give him one more year,"

Not many people think the resignation was the right decision.

"I think it was the best thing for both parties,"

"He had a great run - he did the university proud. He represented with class. But now the run is over with,"

As for the belief that Nick Saban and his quick dominance of football in this state contributed to Tuberville's departure -

"I hear so many people call it the Saban affect - it's not the Saban affect. It's the winning and losing and the way that it happened."
