Hotlines Set Up for Evacuees

Hotlines now open to help hurricane evacuees.

Several telephone hotlines have been set up to help hurricane evacuees fleeing the Gulf Coast. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency has a hotline to provide information on shelter locations. The call center number is 1-800-206-0816. Also, evacuees can dial 211 to reach a hotline set up by the United Way to help people find shelter locations.

The National Weather Service is also listing the following phone numbers for people to call seeking storm information and shelter locations:
For road Information call 911 or *HP -- *47 -- from your cell phone.
For hotel information call 1-800-252-2262.
The Red Cross disaster preparedness hotline is 1-866-GET-INFO.
