A trail of noodles led Miami, Florida police to arrest a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run.
Iris Perez-Hernandez, 25, died in January when she was hit by a car on West Flagler Street near a day care center.
Detectives said Perez-Hernandez was crossing the busy street with a container of spaghetti when a gold Toyota Corolla ran into her.
Her husband and 6-year-old son witnessed it.
Jose Santiago 62, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the hit-and-run.
Santiago's neighbor had called police after noticing extensive damage to his gold car.
Miami police said they found tomato sauce and pasta on the hood of Santiago's car.
"He kept on changing his stories from he thought that he had hit a trash can to a possible tree," said Willy Moreno of the Miami Police Department. "He kept on changing the story continuously on us."
Detectives also have a recording of Santiago talking on the phone while he was at the police station.
"They know I hit that woman," Santiago said on the recording. "They have evidence on the car, food or something. We did not wipe off the car."
Police said Perez-Hernandez was jaywalking when she was hit.
Had the driver stopped, he might have avoided charges altogether.
Santiago is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death.
