BIRMINGHAM: The city has a wealth of civil rights history, Mayor Langford says it can be better marketed; both locally and nationally.
The mayor wants to feature well known civil rights landmarks on a planned tour route. The project would involve signs, multi-media displays and possibly open-top tour busses.
"You know, what happened in Birmingham changed the entire conscience of the world," remarked Langford. We just need to do a little better job of marketing it."
Mayor Langford hopes busses will be rolling along a civil rights trail by early 2009.
