Fire Destroys Uncle Mort's Restaurant Near Jasper

Uncle Mort's Family Restaurant near Jasper has been gutted after a fire Friday morning. The State Fire Marshall's office is investigating.

The restaurant is on Hwy. 78 between Jasper and Sumiton at Hwy. 78 Loop.

The eatery has been a fixture in many books about Southern restaurants, making its mark by selling breakfast all day, every day.

Jean and Morton Godfrey were in the process of selling the restaurant.
