TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa County officials say they haven't forgotten the case of 11-year-old Heaven LaShae Ross.
It's been a year since remains of the missing girl were found in an abandoned house near Holt. She had been missing more than three years at the time.
No arrests have been made. But Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ted Sexton says an investigation continues and authorities have sent evidence to the FBI crime lab for analysis.
Sexton says the FBI is an active part of the case, and authorities have been able to narrow the focus of their work. Shae was last seen walking to her bus stop on Aug. 19, 2003.
Her skeletal remains were found last December at a vacant home at the end of an isolated dirt road. Authorities say the girl's backpack was found near her body.
