HURLEY, Miss. (AP) - A registered sex offender from Alabama now faces charges of enticing a child and indecent exposure in Mississippi.
A judge on Tuesday set bond for 45-year-old Michael Ryan South at $50,000.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says South is from Whistler, Ala. He was arrested Saturday when police went to investigate a report of a man walking around naked in a wooded area behind a ball park in Hurley, Mississippi.
South allegedly told Byrd he was at the park because he wanted to walk around in the nude. Byrd says South had disguises in his vehicle.
Investigators determined that South also is a suspect in a November incident where a man showed up naked in the backyard of a home and tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into the woods.
That incident occurred near the same ball field where South was arrested.
Authorities say South spent 15 years in prison in Alabama after being convicted of sexual abuse of two children.
