BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police officials said today
they are investigating the death of a man who died over the weekend
after struggling with a hospital security guard.
Larry Armstead died Saturday after an incident with a guard at
St. Vincent's Hospital.
Chief Deputy Coroner Jay Glass says the guard was pursuing
Armstead on suspicion of theft Friday afternoon.
The guard caught up with Armstead and two struggled.
Armstead became unresponsive and was taken to St. Vincent's
where he was treated and put into intensive care.
Glass said authorities are trying to determine the cause and
manner of his death.
