Alabama Improves In Being Prepared For Health Disaster

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A national report released today says

state and local governments in Alabama have shown improvement in

the last two years in being prepared to deal with a major health

emergency.

The report by the nonprofit organization Trust for America's

Health is titled "Ready or Not" and rates the states in 10

categories of preparedness.

Two of the categories include the state's stockpiling of vaccine

and the ability to test for biological threats.

Alabama received a positive mark in nine of the 10 categories.

That's a big jump from two years ago when the state was marked

with just two out of 10.

Just seven states received a positive mark for all 10

categories.

Alabama was among 15 states to receive positive marks in nine of

the 10 indicators.
