DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - The state president of the NAACP has been released from the hospital after suffering severe burns in a multiple-car wreck near Mobile.

The civil rights organization announced today that 73-year-old Edward Vaughn is continuing his recovery at his home in Dothan.

Vaughn was hospitalized a month ago after suffering extensive burns in a fiery five-vehicle wreck on U-S- 90 near Interstate 10.

Two other Dothan residents traveling with him also were injured in the November 16 wreck.

61-year-old Nettie Pearl Bryant was listed in critical condition today at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile while 48-year-old Janice Jones Blackmon was treated and released after the crash.

Vaughn was elected state president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in October.

The three had traveled to Southwest Alabama to reactivate an NAACP branch in Washington County.
