Jasper Mother Of Three Still Missing

21-year-old Essence Duncan went missing on Monday.

Her family and friends in Jasper are worried because she left her 22-month-old home alone Monday.

Charles Dean says he goes home everyday around the same time during a break from work. But Monday he found his youngest daughter asleep and alone inside a Jasper apartment he shares with his common-life wife, Essence Duncan.

"Man she loved them kids," said Dean. "I don't see why. I just don't understand why she would leave her there by herself."

Dean says he last spoke with Duncan by phone Monday morning. She did not make it to work where she’s a manager of a Jasper Mcdonald's. Her boss says she's been a responsible employee for four years.

Family and police say there was no sign of foul play at Duncan's home. Her purse is gone. Jasper's police chief has six officers on the case but says there's a chance Duncan walked away.

"Usually if we get a missing person's report within a couple of hours of talking to family we know where they're going," said Chief Bobby Cain.

Chief Cain has no suspects and strong leads. He and Duncan's family just ask that she calls if she can.

"Just come back," said Dean. "Call somebody or something. Just come back."

"It shocked me because normally someone's talked to her or know where's she at," said Duncan’s sister Heather Medders. "She's never not come home, not that I know of."

Chief Cain says the couple had one car so they aren't looking for a missing vehicle. If you have any information about Essence Duncan, you're urged to call the Jasper Police Department at 205-221-2121.
